When we have critical beliefs about our body, it can feel overwhelming and all-consuming. It might become so dominant that any other positive stories we have about our body feel too quiet or distant.
This exercise helps you to reflect on other, less dominant stories you may hold about your body—stories that might be more nurturing or supportive.
1. How does your body comfort you?
What are some ways your body provides comfort or healing? Whether it’s the sensation of a warm bath, the relief of a deep breath, or a hug, what comforts your body?
2. When has your body been helpful?
Think of a time when your body helped you accomplish something important—whether it was physical, mental, or emotional. How did it support you?
3. What does it feel like when your body is free?
When do you feel at ease in your body? Are there moments when you feel light, unrestricted, or at peace?
4. When does your body feel good?
Take a moment to reflect on the times when you genuinely enjoy being in your body. Do you allow yourself to feel pleasure—whether from movement, rest, or a simple experience of sensation?
5. When do you feel beautiful?
What moments or experiences make you feel truly beautiful—inside and out? Is it about how you look, how you feel, or both?
